Big Sky Resort Ski Facts: Ski area opens Thanksgiving and closes in mid April, Mountain Village Base area: 7,500 feet in elevation, summit of Lone Mountain: 11,166 feet in elevation, 4,350 skiable vertical feet, 3,500 acres for skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, on three mountains, 150 runs, longest run is 6 miles, average annual snowfall: 400 inches.
Moonlight Basin Resort Moonlight Basin is the first new destination ski resort to open in the US in more than twenty years. Five chairlifts, including Montana's only high-speed, six passenger chair and a new quad, serve a growing trail network of 76 runs, average annual snowfall 400 inches of dry, light snow.
